The Sigsbee Avenue Church of God

Purpose:

Our Purpose:

  1. To EXALT CHRIST

  • John 3:14-18 And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must lifted up, 15. So that whoever believes in Him may no perish but have life eternal. 16. “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world but in order that the world might be saved through Him. 18. “He who believes in Him is no condemned; but he who does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
  • John 12:32 And when I am lifted up (on the cross), I will draw everyone to me”.
  • 1 Corinthians 1:23-24 So when we preach about Christ dying to save them, the Jews are offended and the Gentiles say it’s all nonsense. 24. But God has opened the eyes of those called to salvations, both Jews and Gentiles, to see that Christ is the mighty power of God to save them; Christ himself is the center of God’s wise plan for their salvation.

  1. To EVANGELIZE The Lost

  • Matthew 28:18-20 He told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and earth, 19. Therefore go and make disciples in all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20. And then teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you; and be sure of this – that I am with you always, even to the end of the world.”

  1. To EDIFY The Body

  • Ephesians 4:7-16 But grace was given to each of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift. 8. Therefore it is said, “When he ascended on high he lead a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men.” 9. (In saying, He ascended, “what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower parts of the earth? 10. He who descended is he who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.) 11. And his gifts were that some should be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, 12. to equip the saints for the work of the ministry , for building up the body of Christ, 13. Until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14. So that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the cunning of men, by their craftiness in deceitful wiles, 15. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16. From whom the whole body, joined and knit together by every joint with which it is supplied, when each part is working properly, makes bodily growth and up builds itself in love.
